Over 90,000 Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Cars Recalled: What You Need to Know

More than 90,000 vehicles from Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru are being recalled in the U.S. due to an issue with the heating and defrosting system. While this doesn’t affect how the cars drive, it could cause major visibility problems in bad weather and that makes it a serious safety concern.

What’s the Problem?

The recall stems from a defect in the HVAC system (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning).

• The defroster/defogger might stop working properly because of a software bug in the control unit.
• In some cases, the electrical compressor could fail, which means the windshield might not clear of fog, frost, or ice when needed.
• Poor visibility, especially in cold or wet conditions, can increase the risk of accidents.

Which Models Are Affected?

This recall affects certain electric models from 2023 to 2025:

• Toyota bZ4X
• Lexus RZ
• Subaru Solterra

In total, about 94,000 vehicles are included.

How Will It Be Fixed?

The good news is that repairs will be free of charge for all owners. Dealers will:

• Update the software in the control module.
• Inspect the electrical compressor, and replace it if necessary.

When Will Owners Be Notified?

Letters will be sent to owners starting October 20, 2025. From there, drivers can schedule a visit to their dealership for the fix.
