BMW Wants to Delete the Instrument Cluster And It Might Change Cars Forever

Image
For more than a century, every car has followed the same basic idea: You sit behind a steering wheel. You look through it. And directly behind it lives a cluster of gauges. Speed. Range. RPM. Warnings. Information. That rectangle whether mechanical needles or digital screens became one of the most recognizable objects in automotive design. Subscribe Enjoying my DIY car content? The 2026 Volvo EX90 Safer Electric SUV

The Volvo EX90 made a bold debut in 2025 as the brand's flagship electric SUV, combining Swedish design with cutting-edge technology. However, its first year was marred by software glitches and performance issues that left some owners frustrated. Fast forward to 2026, and Volvo has responded with significant upgrades that enhance charging speed, safety features, and overall driving experience.

From Frustration to Innovation

The 2025 EX90 faced criticism for its buggy software, including non-functioning infotainment systems and climate controls. In response, Volvo has overhauled its approach, introducing an 800-volt electrical system that replaces the previous 400-volt setup. This upgrade allows the EX90 to add up to 155 miles (250 kilometers) of range in just 10 minutes of charging, significantly reducing downtime for drivers.

Smarter Technology for a Safer Drive

Beyond faster charging, the 2026 EX90 boasts a new Nvidia Drive AGX Orin system-on-a-chip, providing enhanced computing power for advanced driver-assistance features. One notable addition is the Emergency Stop Assist, which can safely bring the vehicle to a stop if the driver becomes unresponsive, reinforcing Volvo's commitment to safety.

A More Efficient and Powerful Drive

The 800-volt architecture not only speeds up charging but also improves overall efficiency. The new system delivers more power for quicker acceleration and reduces material use, making the EX90 lighter and more agile on the road. These enhancements contribute to a more enjoyable and sustainable driving experience.

A Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Volvo's proactive approach to addressing the issues faced by the 2025 EX90 demonstrates its dedication to customer satisfaction and innovation. The 2026 model year brings a refined, more reliable electric SUV that aligns with Volvo's vision for a sustainable and connected future
